Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo was one of the earliest master-planned communities in Orange County, designed by Donald Bren, now CEO of Irvine Company, and completed by the late 1970's. Focused around a man-made lake, Lake Mission Viejo, the city is hilly, known for its tree-lined streets and Spanish mission-style architecture. Houses range from single story homes to custom properties in the gated communities of Canyon Crest and Tres Vistas, overlooking the lake. Residents have the privilege of using the lake facilities which include paddleboats, fishing, beach, picnic areas, etc.  The city includes Mission Viejo Country Club (private) and Arroyo Trabuco Country Club. It is also well-known for the over-55 community Casta del Sol. The Shops at Mission Viejo is the local shopping mall with Nordstroms, Macy's and other major retailers.
